Things to do in Bedlington

Although a small town, there is a vast range of things to do in Bedlington. Bedlington is surrounded by rolling countryside and has a beautiful river that skirts around the edges of the town, with walks that lead to the sea, roughly 2 miles away. The nearest beach is 10 minutes drive from the hotel, with many more stunning and quiet beaches within a 15/20-minute drive. Northumberland National Park is a 30-minute drive from Lairds House and is perfect for those wishing to stargaze.

Plessey Woods Country Park 

Located on the outskirts of Bedlington, Plessey Woods offers a range of woodland walks. With a visitors centre complete with cafe and children’s play area – you can make a day of your visit to Plessey Woods.

Bedlington Country Park Local Nature Reserve

Within walking distance from Lairds House, the local nature reserve is located within Humford Woods. The reserve is home to many red squirrels alongside a regular resident heron who often is seen on the River Blyth.

Gallagher Park & Mountain Bike Trails

Gallagher Park is built on top of Bedlington’s pit, where at the top of the park you’ll find a coal truck signifying the opening of the mine shaft.

Although only short trails, Gallagher Park is home to a red and black graded mountain bike trail named Noel and Liam. There are various other off-piste trails within the park located to the right of Noel and Liam. There is also a BMX track for those who like the thrill!

Bedlingtonshire 18 Hole Golf Course

The golf course provides a serene environment full of wildlife. Nestled on the outskirts of Humford Woods, the course has been running for almost 40 years.
